How Do I Apply A Discount On The Cart Page?

Hey there, welcome to Hopps help where we try and answer commonly asked questions in two minutes. So, the question that I'm going to answer today is how do I apply a discount to my cart page in my Shopify store?
Okay. So built into every Shopify theme as an option for a customer to type in a discount code and apply it to their order.
Right. So, I'll go ahead and show you what that looks like. In this example store called a game set box. So, I added a product to my cart, and then I can type in a discount code that I maybe got from an email or a promotional or something like that.
And then I can click apply, right? So, there's also an option to create an automatic discount where when customers add something to their cart and they go and check out there, there's an automatic discount that applies to their order, regardless of they have a discount code.
Right? So, I'm going to show you how to do both of those today. So, I'm going to start with the automatic discount code.
So, I'm going to go ahead and from my home dashboard and my Shopify store, I'm going to go to discounts here, and then I'm going to click create a discount and I'm going to click automatic discount.
So, let's go ahead and title this screen, right? Let's say that we are having a spring discount and everyone gets 20% off.
So, we're going to title it spring 21, and let's do 20% off the discount value. And then let's say a minimum purchase amount of $5.
And then we can go ahead and save this discount code and it saves. So, let's go ahead and test it here.
So, we'll just refresh this page since we already have a product added to our cart and there we go, it's applied to the order.
Okay. So how you would do a discount code, right? Are you would go back and then you would click create a discount.
And instead of automatic, just click discount code and you can either generate a random code or you can type something in like screen 21, right.
And then you can save it. You can you know, put 20% again. And then you can, of course, you know, customize this however you'd like and set whatever conditions you need to.
And then you would just go ahead and save this discount code and whoever has that code can type it into that field and they would get that discount.
