What Is The Difference Between A Search Campaign And A Display Campaign?

Hi there. Welcome to Hopps help where we try to answer commonly asked questions in about two minutes. The question I've got right now is what is the difference between a search campaign and a display campaign? So, I'm going to explain the difference with some examples. I'm going to first click over. And if this wasn't already clear, this is for Google ads, right? This question pertains to the Google ads platform. I'm going to click over to this tab and I've got, I've conducted a search for digital marketing help which is obviously related to the hop service, right? And you can see all these results showed up, including some ads at the top. And this is, this is the type of ad that's basically produced that you can create when you do a Google search campaign. So, the goal of these campaigns is to appear for people that are demonstrating intent for something. So, I searched for digital marketing help. I'm clearly in the market for digital marketing help. So, it makes sense for things like Fiverr and Upwork to bid in the auction in order to, you know, show an impression and potentially when my click, so paid search advertising very focused on, you know, reaching people that are in the market for something they're searching very specific things they're in research mode and potentially buy mode. So that's paid search in a nutshell, there's so much more to it, but that's, that's, you know, this is an example of the kinds of ads that you would produce if you did a paid search campaign. And in the overall strategy, I'm going to click over to this other tab, and this is a display campaign or display ad right here. That's part of a display campaign. So, I'm on a different site, I'm not on the Google search engine. And the idea is, you know, I could just be, you know, reading an article, you know, looking at other contents. But this ad kind of a display ad is sort of intercepting me getting in front of me, maybe based on the theme of the content that I'm reading or it, maybe it's a retargeting ad and is serving me something based on my previous, you know, website visits. So, it's not, it's not like paid search where I'm demonstrating intent and I'm looking for something and I'm in research mode. In this case with a display campaign, you're trying to sort of keep brands on that person's mind to kind of remind them that at one point they were interested or maybe tell them about a brand or a product for the first time, depending on the content of the page. And obviously, they look quite different, right? Paid search is text-based. And this display campaign ad is very, very much a visual ad. So that's it, in a nutshell, there's probably a lot more to discuss.
